Does anyone else feel like Summer just flew by?

I have also discovered Kid Workshops at Home Depot.

Growing Crystals: A No School Day Experimentation

On this no school day we have decided to grow crystals.
This is a fun experiment for all the ages of kiddos in my home.
I have decided to add in an observation sheet, mostly for the older kids, but could not leave out the littles.
This way we can mark down the changes that took place with the crystals, colors, shapes, sizes.
The kids were pretty excited and kept checking on them often.
We will check back in later with any changes and new observations....

AND WE'RE BACK!
Wowie was I surprised by these gel crystals and so were the kids!

After draining them out and placing them at the table I had the group sit with their observation sheets.

They touched, smelled, turned them all around, tried to see through them and they were almost eaten more than once.
We all decided that they were rectangular, you could see light through them, they had no smell, and they felt similar to jello.
Overall I think this was a fun experiment.
Time to let them dry out and repeat.

March Happenings & Spring Break Fun!!!

Time seems to keep moving faster and faster so I am putting this up now so I don't forget.
In March we have a few no school days, the 11th and then 28th. We have Think Fun Thursdays on the 10th and the 17th,which is also St.Patrick's Day, from 4pm to 5pm at the Beaverton City Library. I am available every Saturday this coming month for Saturday Morning Care from 8am to 12pm. Annnddd, we have Spring Break the 21st to the 25th.

During Spring Break I would love to be able to head out to the hills close to Chehalem, the Tualatin Hills Nature Park or over to Commonwealth Lake Park.

Of course I am hoping for wonderful Spring weather. If we have a gloomy rainy break I would like to plan a library trip just to check out the books, maybe the kids have their own library cards they would like to use and I will be setting up for crafts and experiments.

Here's hoping for sun during our Spring Break so we can snag some extra fun!!!!
